Picnic will move into a fifth distribution centre in October. The logistics centre in Rotterdam's Eemhaven area covers an area of 14,000 square metres.

From the new location, the app-only supermarket aims to deliver even faster in the Rotterdam area. There, it now operates in Schiedam, Vlaardingen, Cappelle, Nieuwekerk and Rotterdam itself. "It's nice that we can now start supplying the hubs from very close by," co-founder Michiel Muller told the Algemeen Dagblad.

Second largest DC

Picnic currently delivers from four distribution centres in Eindhoven, Utrecht, Diemen and Nijkerk. Only the dc in Eindhoven has more square metres than the property in Rotterdam, which covers an area of 14,000 square metres.

The logistics centre in Rotterdam is currently under renovation and will be officially inaugurated on 17 October.

Personnel wanted

Picnic currently delivers in around sixty Dutch locations. Before the end of the year, the supermarket wants to grow to around seventy locations. To facilitate this growth, the online supermarket is looking for 1,000 runners and 1,000 order pickers. The Rotterdam DC has room for 300 to 500 new workers.
