Picnic doubles its logistics capacity with the opening of a new distribution centre in Eindhoven. The location in Eindhoven concerns Picnic's largest distribution centre to date.

The new distribution centre covers an area of around eighteen thousand square metres and is intended for delivery to North Brabant. Indeed, from next month Picnic will deliver in Breda and Tilburg.

Doubling logistics capacity

Picnic already has distribution centres in Nijkerk and Utrecht. This was followed in January by the opening of a distribution centre in Diemen, to facilitate expansion to Amsterdam. With the fourth location, Picnic is doubling its logistics capacity; the DC in Eindhoven is almost as large as the three current locations combined.

Three hundred to five hundred employees will work at the new logistics centre. The online supermarket is also looking for two hundred delivery staff in the south.

Expansion into Germany

Since the start of this month, the grocery delivery service has also been operating in Germany. There, Picnic delivers groceries under the name Sprinter Supermarkt. Four major cities in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia (Kaarst,
Neuss, Meerbusch and Oberkassel) are supplied with groceries
. If this proves successful, the service will be expanded to other
cities.
In
Germany, Picnic uses a hub in Neuss and its own distribution centre in Viersen.
