Local retailers in the Netherlands can have orders delivered to customers' homes within an hour via a new platform Boodschapjes.com. The new service, as the name suggests, is only available for groceries.
On Boodschapjes.com, consumers can see which supermarket delivers in their neighbourhood. After placing an order, the supermarket prepares it itself, after which it is delivered to the consumer.
Participating shops determine their own delivery radius, which also allows them to control delivery costs. Boodschapjes.com believes that lowering delivery costs and eliminating a minimum order amount will boost online grocery shopping. The platform deliberately works with local retailers, as they can move faster than larger players.
The delivery service will launch soon. Retailers and consumers can already sign up on the platform.
