Prime Vision has won the Logistica Award for its Autonomos Sorting concept. Jury chairman René de Koster praised the innovation for the dynamic way the robots work.

Prime Vision's robots work autonomously and avoid collisions with other robots by themselves. According to De Koster, the secret is not so much in the robot, but in the software. "Prime Vision's robots work dynamically. There are similar concepts, but in these, the robots often follow a fixed path," says De Koster. Flexibility, scalability and a limited investment make Prime Vision the winner of the Logistica Award. The company succeeds Neopost, 2015 winner with packaging machine CVP-500, leaving Prime Vision behind Pack Tools, Ravas Europe and WeNova.eu.

Prime Vision's concept is not yet operational. According to Bernd van Dijk, innovation director at Prime Vision, the Logistica Award may help to ensure that companies no longer see smart robots as futures.

Audience Award

In addition to the professional prize, a public prize was also awarded on the first day of Logistica, which went to Pack Tools with the Wrapplicator, a hand wrapping tool that enables the user to wrap cargo in an ergonomic, safe and efficient way. De Koster on the Wrapplicator: "In practice, a lot of pallets are wrapped manually with two hands. With this device, you wrap with one hand. It goes a lot faster and you save a lot of film."

Innovation power

The six-member jury again praised the innovative strength within the logistics field this edition. The entries were judged on application value, degree of innovation, economic importance, cost-effectiveness and creativity.
