Cooperation project 'GreenFlow' is the winner of the evofenedex Keten Award, the award for the best cooperation in the logistics chain. In the project, the municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn, the province of South Holland, Greenport Boskoop, Delphy and Smartid Services worked together on more efficient logistics.
GreenFlow received the Chain Award today from jury chairman Jack van der Veen. The project went home with the award because of the good cooperation between entrepreneurs and authorities.
GreenFlow was created by a bottleneck at a lift bridge connecting Boskoop-east and Boskoop-West. As Boskoop is considered the centre of arboriculture, the route is busy with growers, traders and transporters. To improve traffic flow, it was decided to create an extra depot in Boskoop-East. An app was to improve communication between growers. Tree growers from Boskoop-East deliver small orders to the hub. The participating traders from Boskoop West have these orders collected jointly by a carrier or collect them themselves. The cooperation has led to a substantial decrease in traffic movements.
Evofenedex created the Chain Award in 2015 to encourage cooperation in the logistics chain. It said there was still a gap between the theoretical evidence for the benefits of chain cooperation and its application in practice. According to evofenedex, chain cooperation is the answer to many complex issues. "More asphalt, for example, is not the only solution to accessibility issues. Only public-private partnerships on themes from accessibility, digitalisation, safety to sustainability create win-win solutions," general director Machiel van der Kuijl said earlier about the Chain Award.
