Red je Pakketje is going to ship parcels internationally. After five years of growth in the Netherlands, the parcel service thinks it's time for the market of international shipping. "In the longer term, this could be our biggest bang for the buck," said CEO Sam Rohn.
Red je Pakketje is crossing borders through logistics platform VanavondBezorgd. This subsidiary was launched in June as a same-day delivery service for smaller webshops.
International shipping via VanavondBezorgd works the same way for webshops as delivery in the Netherlands. Webshops register their orders with the platform and then deliver their parcels to one of the company's drop-off points. Before the end of the year, Red je Pakketje aims to have 200 drop-off points in the Netherlands. The parcel service picks up the shipments there and takes them to their destination.
'Educate, test and try'
"The world is connected by the internet," CEO Sam Rohn says of the move. "Any Belgian, Spaniard or Russian can watch a cat video from Arnhem. But if that cat owner wants to ship his own cat toys to such countries, it turns out to be a lot of hassle. VanavondBezorgd removes that barrier and provides convenience."
"In the beginning, it will mainly be a matter of education, testing and trying, but in the longer term, this could well become our biggest stunner. Webshops can reach a lot more people through VanavondBezorgd, and consumers will also benefit from this."
