Red je Pakketje is opening a new distribution centre in Rijen, near the border with Belgium. From the new location, Red je Pakketje wants to serve our southern neighbours more efficiently.
Red je Pakketje occupies the location with immediate effect. The eighth distribution centre covers 4,200 square metres and employs 120 people. Initially, half of the premises will be set up for electric delivery. Together with Vattenval, the company is exploring opportunities for further electrification and green energy generation.
CTO Arjan van den Bos: "Our computer simulations identified Rijen as the best location for sustainable growth in the southern Netherlands and Belgium. We are now better positioned for electric delivery in the southern Netherlands and at the same time we can drive more efficiently to Belgium."
Red je Pakketje was acquired by Swedish company Instabox earlier this year . As a result of that acquisition, the last-mile specialist can now accelerate its expansion and sustainability. This includes the introduction of parcel lockers: over the next two years, the Netherlands will get at least 2,000 lockers throughout the country.
