Renault is to modernise its warehouse in Brühl, near Cologne, and equip it with Exotec's robotic system. The system will be in a new 24,000-square-metre building, currently under construction. Over the course of this year, 89 robots will climb into racks here to move in and out of bins of spare parts. The warehouse will be used to supply car shoppers across Germany with these parts.
After automating Renault's French site in Villeroy last year, the warehouse robotics specialist is now also supplying Renault in Germany with its Skypod system. A total of 89 Skypod robots will be deployed in Brühl, accounting for a planned throughput of more than 1,600 totes per hour. The system offers an efficient combination of goods receiving and order picking with a capacity of 1,500 order lines per hour. Exotec, with Deepsky, also provides the software behind the robotics. Commissioning of the warehouse is scheduled for June 2026.
Flexible and scalable
"We are excited to support Renault in modernising their logistics site in Germany," says Andreas Stöckl, responsible for sales in Central Europe at Exotec. "Our Skypod system enables flexible, scalable and efficient storage ideally suited to the high demands of the automotive industry. Together, we are raising the later for spare parts logistics in Germany."
"With the expansion of our Brühl site and the cooperation with Exotec, we are purposefully investing in innovative technologies to further optimise our spare parts logistics," says Olivier Schieritz, director customer service & aftersales at Renault Deutschland. "With the Skypod system, Exotec is making an important contribution to an even more reliable, efficient and sustainable supply of our dealers throughout Germany."
