Warehouse workers need not fear that the arrival of robots will leave them sitting at home on the couch. According to an analysis by economists Willem Vermeend and Rick van der Ploeg, robots may actually create more jobs and prosperity.

There is a lot of negative talk about the arrival of robots. Logistics workers in particular should fear for their jobs. Robots are not only faster, but also cheaper and they have fewer demands. There would then be no more work for low-skilled employees.
New technology good for prosperity
Nonsense, argue Vermeend and Van der Ploeg in De Telegraaf. They think that the current level of prosperity in the EU can only be maintained if there is full use of new technology, such as robots. The economists believe that robots will actually bring back to the Netherlands jobs that have been moved to low-wage countries in the past. Besides the logistics sector, this also applies to automated factories and the security industry.
