Despite the approaching Brexit, supplier Rotom sees opportunities in the UK market. The logistics resource provider has acquired a majority stake in Nottingham-based UK peer Cargopak.

Rotom, which is headquartered in Son en Breugel, provides total transport and storage solutions. By taking a majority stake in Cargopak, supplier of roll containers and plastic load carriers, Rotom is now also active in the UK.

Rotom managing director Arjan Kuiper: "It may not be obvious to take this step now, as it is not known what impact the impending Brexit will have on Europe. However, the fact is that the whole world is concerned with sustainability and circular economy."

Kuiper is referring to the service concepts the Rotom Group has developed for load carriers, including rental, pooling and packaging recovery. Those services will now become available to UK customers. "By using advanced software, bluetooth and RFID techniques, we have the knowledge to help companies manage their load carriers (RTI) efficiently."

Following the acquisition, Rotom operates in 10 European countries, with 16 of its own branches.
