The steering group Top Consortium for Knowledge and Innovation (TKI) wants to stimulate cooperation between companies in order to make logistics more sustainable. The steering group is mainly aiming at bundling transports in order to reduce the number of unnecessary kilometres driven.

The steering group is formed by Synple, CGI, TNO and Connekt. After the summer, the parties will start working on various pilots aimed at making logistics more sustainable. One of the key components is matchmaking app 'WeConnekt'. This app puts logistics professionals in touch with each other to encourage cooperation. Among other things, it allows transport companies to bundle their loads.

Cooperation difficult in practice
According to TKI, companies in logistics are eager to cooperate, but encounter a number of barriers. "Despite the great benefits for parties in the logistics chain, bottlenecks such as insufficient mutual trust and the difficulty of coordinating processes sometimes still stand in the way of cooperation," explains TNO. A shame, the parties think. "Cooperation in logistics makes it possible to increase the capacity utilisation of trucks, for example, and reduces the number of empty kilometres driven. Far-reaching cooperation offers opportunities to bundle loads and to further efficiency gains with multimodal solutions. Vehicle movements can be reduced, empty kilometres saved and CO2 reduced," said the steering group. TKI invites interested parties to join the pilot.
