The UWV and Sector Institute Transport and Logistics are going to guide dismissed employees and people with a large distance to the labour market towards new work. To this end, both parties have signed a covenant.

Creating jobs
The aim is to help 1,100 people, mainly older drivers, find work. 200 jobs will be made available for people who are distanced from the labour market.

Training
Meanwhile, 2,000 unemployed drivers are being trained to ensure they remain up to date with developments in the sector. When the economy picks up again, there is a good chance they will be able to return to work straight away. The transport sector is still struggling due to the crisis, but a shortage of workers is expected in the long term.
