Segway is launching an autonomous delivery robot. The Loomo Delivery is mainly intended for internal use, in warehouses, shopping malls or office gardens.
Segway is introducing the Loomo Delivery at next weekend's CES technology fair in Las Vegas. The autonomous delivery robot is capable of navigating crowded environments and has a payload of up to 50 kilograms.
With the new means of transport, Segway is mainly targeting companies that want to automate their internal transport. Thus, the Loomo Delivery can deliver parcels and documents as well as lunch boxes.
The robot works with a cloud-based navigation system, and information about the destination can be entered via a touchscreen. The battery lasts up to eight hours. When the battery is empty, the Loomo drives itself back to the charging station.
Segway will provide more information on the price and launch of the delivery robot on 8 January, the first day of the trade show in Las Vegas.
