Shell is going to deliver fuels in Rotterdam. With a special app, motorists can order petrol and diesel. An electrically powered vehicle will bring the fuel to the desired location.

Motorists can download Shell's TapUp app from today. They indicate when placing the order where and when they want the fuel delivered. For now, consumers can only order a full tank. Shell delivers the fuel between 1pm and 8pm.

Remarkably, motorists do not have to stay with the car when it is filled up. The owner of the car can leave the tank lid slightly open. The TapUp vehicle is always manned by two men, who fill up the respective car.

The electric cart can carry petrol and diesel for ten tanks. Should there be a high demand for fuel delivery, Shell will have a second vehicle ready.

Shell is currently testing the app in four Rotterdam neighbourhoods: Overschie, Park Zestienhoven, Hillergersberg-Zuid, Terbregge. It also delivers to businesses around the Van Nelle Factory. The price of the service is the average of the petrol price in the aforementioned locations, with a €3.95 delivery charge on top. Consumers can cancel the order free of charge until refuelling has started.
