Sluyter Logistics is replacing its pallet trucks with lead-acid batteries for a variant with long-lasting lithium-ion batteries. The trucks feature smart technology.

The logistics provider deploys the trucks from Toyota Material Handling. Toyota develops the lithium-ion batteries in-house.

Because Sluyter Logistics works around the clock as a full-service provider, it was looking for solutions with a long service life. The li-ion pallet trucks have a longer deployment over the entire day because the battery can be charged in the truck in between. At the same time, a heavier-duty machine was chosen, so that the pallet truck is better applied to changing conditions such as heavier and different loads. "In addition, the driver is no longer responsible for maintaining the batteries and therefore has the opportunity to focus fully on core tasks," says Sjouke Vogelzang, branch director at Sluyter Logistics in Assen.

The new trucks feature smart technology. Combined with the Toyota I_Site fleet management system, users will get more insight into truck deployment and service intervals.
