BYD, Crown, Jungheinrich and SSI Schäfer were awarded the IFOY Awards (International Forklift Truck of the Year Awards) at CeMAT in Hanover. Awards were presented in five categories for the most innovative intralogistics solutions. Jungheinrich won two awards.
Thirteen different trucks and intralogistics solutions competed in the finals. In the end, the jury, consisting of a team of international trade journalists, chose five winners.
Chinese manufacturer BYD was awarded an IFOY Award in the 'Forklift trucks up to 3.5 tonnes lifting capacity' category with its 1.8-tonne electric ECB 18C truck. The manufacturer scored highly with the battery technology used on the truck. The battery is said to charge exceptionally fast. For BYD, it was the first time it had received an IFOY Award, with Crown winning the award in the 'Low-Lifting Warehouse Trucks' category with the Crown RT 4020. The judges praised the 'lowlifter' for its high productivity in limited space.
Jungheinrich went home in the 'Special Vehicles' category with an award for theJungheinrich EJQ 325 and in the 'High Lift Warehousetruck' category it won an award with the Jungheinrich EKX 516. Jungheinrich's EKX 5 series was praised by the judges for its high level of innovation. "With this, Jungheinrich has set the bar very high for other high-lift warehouse trucks," he said.
SSI Schäfer won the award in the 'Intralogistics Solutions' category with the Waesel AGV system. Decisive for the jury were the low investment costs for the AGV system. The warehouse furnisher has had a good month thanks to the Waesel: a fortnight ago, the Weasel was awarded the Best of Industriepreis 2016. This award honours companies that bring innovative product solutions with scientific, technological and ecological added value to the market.
