Warehouse designer SSI Schäfer has won the Best of Industriepreis 2016 for AGV system Weasel. This award honours companies that market innovative product solutions with scientific, technological and ecological added value.
SSI Schäfer's Weasel can automatically and unmanned transport boxes, plastic containers and other goods up to 35 kilograms. No conveyor system is involved here. Indeed, the goods are transported via a detection loop in the floor. This would ensure safer transport with low acquisition and operating costs. In addition, scalability makes it easy to respond to changing demand and customer needs.
SSI Schäfer won the award in the Intralogistics and Production Management category. The company is also competing with the Weasel for the IFOY (International Forklift Truck of the Year) Award at CeMAT in Hanover. The company will compete against product solutions and forklifts from companies BYD, Crown, Jungheinrich, Still and Toyota Material Handling.
