It's raining cancellations for the LogiMAT in Stuttgart. Jungheinrich, Dematic, Still and Linde Material Handling are no longer present at the logistics trade fair, scheduled from 10 to 12 March. The fair organisers see no reason to cancel the event for the time being.
"The current status is that LogiMAT will take place in Stuttgart as planned," organiser Euroexpo writes on the event's website. German government authorities still rate the risk of the coronavirus on residents of Germany as moderate. Euroexpo therefore sees no reason (for now) to cancel Germany's largest logistics trade fair.
However, some major suppliers are cancelling their participation after all. It seems a matter of time until the next cancellations trickle in, now that logistics heavyweights such as Still, Jungheinrich, Linde Material Handling and Dematic have set the tone. At a major event such as LogiMAT, they say, it cannot be ruled out that visitors to the fair or stand crew will be infected with the corona virus. "We have therefore decided to cancel our participation in the fair," Linde Material Handling said on its website.
"The health of our customers and employees is an absolute priority for Jungheinrich," says Christian Erlach, board member of Marketing & Sales at Jungheinrich AG. ''It is therefore with a heavy heart that we have decided not to participate in LogiMAT this year." Jungheinrich sees LogiMAT as this year's most important intralogistics trade fair. "Against this background, we look forward to seeing you again in Stuttgart in 2021."
Update 4 March, 1.50pm: Also Vanderlande and BITO have indicated that they will not participate in the LogiMAT.
