Stefan Kleijngeld was officially appointed chairman of Jong Logistiek Nederland (JLN) at the vLm annual conference. Under his leadership, the association will establish three important pillars.
The board of JLN, a platform aimed at logistics-oriented college and university students and graduates, already appointed Kleijngeld as chairman earlier this month. During the annual conference on Tuesday, Kleijngeld was handed the gavel by his predecessor Justin de Vries. On stage, Kleijngeld immediately explained JLN's new strategy. It focuses on three pillars:
- Professionalism - JLN's aim is to be on par with vLm and join forces.
- Connection. The association wants to be the connecting factor between education, business and government. "It is crucial that we pay more attention to that link," said the new chairman.
- Stepping
out of the logistic box. This pillar is also JLN's new annual theme. "We need to start thinking outside the box and work together more," Kleijngeld explained.
Kleijngeld works as logistics manager at WP Haton. In that position, he won the Young Logistics Talent of the Year award last year.

At the congress of the Logistics Management Association (vLm), the Dutch Logistics Thesis Prize was also awarded. Isabelle van Schilt of TU Delft went home with the prize for the best bachelor thesis. André Snoeck of TU Eindhoven won the prize for the best master's thesis.
