Transport entrepreneurs in Europe should have fair and equal regulations imposed on them. To ensure this, Transport en Logistiek Nederland (TLN) has handed over an action plan to Minister Schultz van Haegen of Infrastructure and the Environment.

The 'Thirteen Action Point Plan' states that the rules must be fairer. TLN calls for a halt to further liberalisation and wants enforcement to be unified, as well as toll collection. Driving and rest periods should also become clearer. Driving bans within the EU should also be scrapped.

Own interpretation of regulations
All countries within the EU apply their own regulations for transport companies. Entrepreneurs could no longer see the wood for the trees because of this. Enforcement also takes place in different ways. Member states can thus interpret and enforce rules in their own way. The action point plan should offer concrete solutions to this problem. The Minister for Infrastructure and the Environment accepted the copy this week as the Netherlands holds the EU presidency for the next six months.
