Uber Freight is expanding its transport platform to Poland. After an earlier rollout of the platform in the Netherlands and Germany, further expansion to the "highly fragmented Polish transport market" now follows.
Uber's Freight app connects shippers to nationwide carriers with extra capacity, where the price is fixed and the freight can be tracked via the app. For shippers, this means more transparency, while carriers mainly benefit from quick payment and new orders.
Poland growth market
Uber Freight has been operating in Europe since June, with the Netherlands acting as a test country. According to the US company, expansion into Poland is a logical move, given Poland's expected economic development. "Poland is the second largest market for transport companies in Europe and the logistics sector employs around 300,000 people," the company writes in a press release.
Small businesses
Uber Freight says the Polish transport sector is highly fragmented and characterised by many small companies. "As in other markets, this group experiences the most difficulties in creating future-proof operations. Uber Freight's on-demand platform enables all carriers to participate in the market, regardless of their size."
