In May, UniCarriers will launch ten new TX models from its 3- and
4-wheel electric forklift series. According to the forklift specialist,
these are currently the most energy-efficient electric forklifts available.

UniCarriers’ revamped product range comprises seven models in
the 3-wheel range (TX3) and three models in the 4-wheel range (TX4). The forklift trucks have an average energy consumption of 4.2 kWh at
the 1.6-tonne model. Compared with the
previous model, the noise level of the trucks has been reduced by 8.2 dB to 63.3 dB.

UniCarriers itself describes this as ‘a significant technical improvement
compared to the previous generation’. The key innovations are the
introduction of electric steering
using a steer-by-wire system, a fully automatic parking brake and a
efficient hydraulic system. “These technologies not only improve
energy efficiency, but also enhance ergonomics and safety whilst
driving. The steer-by-wire system provides feedback on the
power steering, enabling the driver to steer intuitively and safely”,
according to UniCarriers in a press release.

The TX's standard safety package includes 16 functions. The Stability Support System (S3) measures speed, steering angle, mast movement, lift height and workload weight and corrects where necessary. For example, the travel speed is adjusted to the workload and lift height. When cornering, the travel speed is automatically reduced. An Interlock-Control-System stops the truck as soon as the driver leaves his seat. The truck is accessed via a unique PIN code, with this code each driver can set his personal user profile and preferred settings.
