V&D will no longer carry out its in-store provisioning in-house. The department store chain is outsourcing its transport activities to G. Snel Logistics. G. Snel from Woerden would be able to provide transport for V&D more efficiently.
Cleaner fleet
"The trucks stand still less often and drive empty less often," said a V&D spokesperson. It also prevents V&D from having to invest in a cleaner fleet. These investments were unavoidable due to the environmental zones that inner cities have introduced in recent years. G. Snel's fleet would already meet these environmental requirements.

Employees employed by G. Snel Logistics
The outsourcing contract has a duration of five years. V&D expects to save 0.8 to 1.5 million euros in that time. All employees involved, twenty drivers and two admnistrative workers have now joined G. Snel Logistics.
Loss-making
V&D has been loss-making for some time. The outsourcing should help the chain get back on its feet. Leases with lower rents were previously concluded for the shop premises. Moreover, a wage sacrifice for all employees is still being negotiated.
