In the third quarter of 2014, the number of vacancies in the Logistics sector rose by as much as 27 per cent. This is evident from Yacht's analysis Trends and Developments in the Labour Market. This makes Logistics the fastest growing sector, together with the Government/Non-profit sector.

E-commerce and construction
“As economic activity in the Netherlands picks up, people are more willing to change jobs,” says Michel Verdoold, HR Director at Yacht. “As a result, people changing jobs often create a new vacancy, which then needs to be filled.” The sector’s growth is partly attributable to an increase in transport volumes driven by e-commerce activities. In addition, the rise in construction output is giving the logistics sector a further boost. It is expected that demand for supply chain professionals will continue to rise in the coming months as export volumes return to normal levels.

Logistics engineers and planners in high demand
There is a striking increase in demand for logistics engineers and planners among logistics service providers in the south of the country. Taken together, demand in the Rotterdam, Breda/Utrecht and Eindhoven regions rose by 53 per cent in the third quarter compared with a year ago.
