Logistics service provider Van Duuren Districenters is acquiring family-owned company Interport with effect from 1 January 2017. With the acquisition, Van Duuren expects to expand its services in the field of security and tracking systems.

Van Duuren currently handles logistics for clients in the retail and high-tech sectors. Interport focuses on air freight, high-tech and pharmaceuticals. From a branch at Schiphol and another at Barcelona Airport, Interport offers transport services to Spain and Portugal. The company uses box trailers secured with heavy-duty locks. Interport is also TAPA, AEO and ISO certified. Founder Wilma Bram felt that, after 25 years, it was time to pass on the baton and hopes that this will ensure the continuity of Interport. Eric de Wit, who joined Van Duuren’s management team this summer, is taking over her role as managing director.

Van Duuren, which has been active since 1982, has 381 delivery depots in 39 countries via partners. From these depots, 9525 trucks deliver all over Europe. The acquisition offers the family business the opportunity to accelerate the expansion of its own trailer fleet. Van Duuren Districenters plans to transfer some activities to Interport after the takeover and to continue this business independently as far as possible.
