Logistics service provider Van Duuren is to supply the HEMA shops in Madrid and Barcelona. The two parties entered into an intensive collaboration last month.
From August, the logistics service provider will be responsible for HEMA's entire logistics flow in Spain. HEMA shipments to Spain are carried out by Interport, which has been part of Van Duuren since January 2017 and specialises in shipments to and from Spain. Through Interport, the logistics service provider has an office in Barcelona.
Previous collaboration
Van Duuren and HEMA have worked together in the past. Between 1991 and 2002, Van Duuren took care of the supply logistics of non-food suppliers to the HEMA distribution centre in Utrecht.
Key to success
Commenting, Account Director Stef Blommaart said that dedication should make the collaboration a success. "As a logistics service provider, we contribute to successful shop openings and stocking of shops in busy city centres. It's not rocket science, but it's mainly about dedication. We always make sure in advance that we know exactly what to expect. We visit all HEMA and Spanish shops and map out the situation on site. That way, we can ensure the best logistical solution."

HEMA has been active in Spain since 2014. The chain now has seven stores in the country, five in Madrid and two in Barcelona. The range of products in the stores in this southern European country does differ from that in the Netherlands. There are no smoked sausages and tompouces, for example.
