Shoe chain vanHaren is expanding its distribution centre in Waalwijk by 12,500 square metres. The expansion should provide space for 5 million pairs of extra shoes.
VanHaren currently has 145 stores in the Netherlands and 12 in Belgium. The shoe retailer posted record sales of 195 million euros in 2018. For next year, the formula is betting on further growth in Belgium and expansion of its online activities.
This requires additional logistics metres, VanHaren writes in a press release. With the 12,500-square-metre expansion, the retailer is creating space for 5 million pairs of extra shoes. "With this step, we are expanding storage capacity by over 50 per cent. The logistics process is also even more efficient and we are able to guarantee customised delivery and thus maintain our flexibility," says managing director Joost van Disseldorp.
Construction work started in February. VanHaren will take the new section into use in the autumn.
