Warehouses can again compete for the title 'Safest Warehouse in the Netherlands'. Companies wishing to compete can register until 1 June for the award, which will be presented on 9 November.

The title goes to the company that has taken concrete extra steps to create more safety in the logistics department. In doing so, the jury will pay attention to nine criteria, including obligations, monitoring, magament safety requirements, safety on the shop floor and working climate. Two titles are awarded: one in the large category and one in the small category (companies with fewer than 25 warehouse employees).

Title holders CEVA Logistics and Akzo Nobel
Last year, CEVA Logistics (large category) and Akzo Nobel (small category) went home with the award. LogistiekProfs previously interviewed CEVA Logistics about its road to this award. Karel Loeffen, operations excellence manager at the company, said that after the trial, there was not only a higher safety awareness among employee, but that the focus on safety also created more efficiency. "Safety does not always have to cost money, it can also generate money," Loeffen said.

100 adjustments
"If you add up all the little things, we have definitely made more than 100 adjustments. There is a contious improvement board here, where everyone can put their own improvement cards. That included a lot of safety measures." According to Loeffen, employees were rewarded if they actively applied the measures. "On the one hand, you explain to people what you expect from them, in addition, you reward the behaviour you would like to see."

The winners will be announced during the Day of the Warehouse on 9 November.
