Rhenus has commissioned the solar panel roof on its distribution centre in Eindhoven. The logistics provider speaks of the largest 'single roof solar power project in the Netherlands'.

15,318 solar panels have been installed on Rhenus Contract Logistics' distribution centre in Eindhoven. These generate over 4,000,000 kWh annually. This makes the solar roof the largest solar power project in the Netherlands in terms of generating capacity.

In early 2017, Rhenus opened its second distribution centre (54,000 m2) in Eindhoven. When building its distribution centres, Rhenus says it aims for the most sustainable facilities with BREEAM Outstanding as the starting point. Not only is energy generation considered, but also the choice of materials and ecological conditions. Besides daylighting, all premises are fitted with LED lighting and an information and communication platform enables Rhenus to respond proactively to issues such as energy and maintenance.
