Vos Transport has reached an agreement in principle with Claessens Logistiek for takeover. The activities and staff of the bankrupt company will be transferred to the Limburg branch of Vos Transport.

Claessens Logistiek, which specialised in transporting both complete and partial loads in the Benelux and Germany, went bankrupt last month. High competitive pressure in road transport is said to have dealt the transport company the death blow.

With the takeover by Vos Transport, a restart for the company from Schimmert (Limburg) seems likely. Claessens' activities and staff will move to the Limburg branch of Vos Transport, in Ittervoort. Both branches are less than forty kilometres apart.

"All this together is a really good opportunity for us to continue serving Claessens' customers with the staff they were used to and at least by personnel from the region," said Jules Menheere, managing director of Vos.

It is unclear whether all employees will keep their jobs. Talks are ongoing with Claessen's clients about continuing the activities.
