The code red declared by KNMI on Sunday has not yet led to empty shelves in supermarkets. According to the Central Bureau Levenmiddelenhandel (CBL), supplies went well.
Due to the announced winter weather, shops were busier than usual on Saturday. Photos of empty shelves circulated on social media. Both Jumbo and Albert Heijn stated they were going to do extra stocking.
According to the CBL, it remained relatively quiet in shops on Sunday. Partly due to extra stocking, this kept the shelves filled. Moreover, new supplies were already being driven to the shops.
