Zalando will open its fifth distribution centre at our eastern neighbours next year. At the new location in Halle, the online retailer is not working with logistics provider Fiege for a change, but with Kuehne + Nagel.

Zalando's fifth distribution centre, near Leipzich, will have an area of 35,000 square metres and will focus on internal logistics. Manufacturers and retailers can put their products here for shipment to the outbound centres in Brieseland, Erfurt, Lahr and Mönchengladbach.

100 million products

The online retailer aims to be operational in the inbound DC from autumn 2019. By then, up to 100 million products per year will be processed by logistics service provider Kuehne + Nagel.

Better delivery times

"The new location will contribute to better availability of stock within our network. This will reduce the number of shipments between fulfilment centres and result in better delivery times for Zalando customers," the company explains on its website.
