Whilst there are still many stereotypes about Russia and the Russian economy, there are certainly logistics companies from which the West can learn. The Russian e-commerce company
Ulmart, the market leader in Russia, offers a glimpse behind the scenes and shows
how the company has grown. Ulmart is even capable of preparing orders within 10 minutes.

Ready whilst you wait
Consumers can shop at the front of the large warehouses, in Ulmart’s so-called
‘carry-out areas’at Ulmart,
order the products they want via computers. The orders placed are
processed and the items are then delivered within ten minutes to the
waiting customer. Ulmart achieves this by utilising
large distribution centres that use modern methods to transport the goods to the
waiting customer using modern methods.

hasn’t reached its full potential yet
Ulmart is still growing. In November this year, a new distribution centre
covering over 15,000 square metres.
This expansion will enable Ulmart to increase its number of stock-keeping units from 130,000 to 200,000.
