Having your groceries delivered to your fridge while you are away from home; a scary idea or ideal? In Sweden, supermarket chain ICA and courier company PostNord are going to experiment with delivery right to your fridge. To enter the house, the couriers will use a smartphone and a Glue front door lock. As a result, delivery will be contactless.
The experiment is being conducted in collaboration with 20 Swedish households. The courier delivers the fresh groceries ordered right into the fridge and closes the door again by using his smartphone.
Special lock
The lock on the door is from the company Glue, which offers the technology for 249 euros. The owner can give others temporary permission, allowing the delivery driver to serve customers without them being at home. Using his mobile phone, he enters without a key.
Trust
So the courier can just enter your home without being watched. Yet subjects do not fear their belongings being stolen. To The Wall Street Journal, one of them reveals, "I won't leave my diamond ring lying around either. It's a controllable risk."
Advantages
The advantage of the new delivery method is that the person ordering the items does not have to be at home to receive the order. This reduces the number of unsuccessful deliveries because the customer is not at home. Earlier, Volvo also experimented witha similar service.
