Montapacking is expanding across the border. The fulfilment specialist is opening a location in Germany in May and also sees opportunities in the UK.
Montapacking director Edwin van der Ham had this reported by Ecommerce News. Montapacking provides fulfilment for more than 600 online shops from ten locations in the Netherlands. The company posted double-digit growth in recent years. According to Van der Ham, this growth is necessary in a market where major acquisitions follow each other in rapid succession.

Expansion abroad should make Montapacking future-proof. The eleventh Montapacking location will be in Dortmunt, Germany. This premises, like the other ten centres, will be highly self-managing. "From the start, we have been working decentrally. For us, it feels like opening an eleventh branch, which happens to be abroad."
UK expansion
A location in the UK will follow in 2021 to have a local presence there too. "Now that the Brexit is a fact, many Brits are looking for a mainland distribution centre that can not only handle outbound shipments, but also return processing." The company is still orientating on a possible location.
Weekly takeover bid
Van der Ham says it receives takeover offers every week, but does not accept them. "We are also approached weekly - mainly by international transport players - but we turn them all down. It doesn't fit into our multi-carrier strategy and besides, we don't need it."
