Amazon is building a new distribution centre in Emden, a German port city near the border with Groningen. From this location, the US giant also wants to serve the northern Netherlands.

RTV Noord reports. The distribution centre will have an area of 10,000 square metres and will be commissioned in spring 2021. The location will account for 70 jobs. In addition, 250 drivers will be hired for parcel delivery.

Amazon recently announced that it is rolling out in the Netherlands in a big way before the end of this year. Amazon.nl will be a full-fledged webshop with millions of products. Entrepreneurs who want to sell via the platform can now register.

However, the online giant does not yet have any distribution centres in our country. For now, delivery seems to be done from Germany, where it now has 20 logistics centres. Last year, the company opened a warehouse in Mönchengladbach, twenty kilometres from the Dutch border.
