Supermarket chain Jumbo has reached an agreement with trade unions FNV and CNV on the remaining employees still covered by the collective agreement Jumbo Logistiek. They are now also subject to the terms and conditions from the Jumbo Employment Terms and Conditions Regulations (AVR).

Jumbo has been working with the AVR as an alternative to the collective agreement since last year. Employees who did not agree to this still fall under the old collective agreement. They could not claim the wage increases and other terms and conditions of employment from Jumbo's AVR.

Same terms of employment

Unions CNV, FNV and Jumbo held talks recently to find a solution for this. Last week, they came to an agreement. All employees now enjoy the same terms of employment. Employees under the old collective agreement will receive the wage increase from the AVR with retroactive effect. They also retain, like all other employees who were employed before 1 April, their normative historical collective agreement rights.

AVR versus collective labour agreement

What the parties disagree on is the discussion AVR versus collective agreement. The unions argue for a new collective agreement, while Jumbo sticks to the agreements made with the works council. The unions and Jumbo say they will work in consultation to further restore a "more sustainable consultation structure".
