Temporary employment agency Manpower has opened a second Logistics Academy (MLA) in Hillegom last week. Kandidates can attend training courses here for driving rolling stock: forklift, reach truck and electric pallet truck.

With the opening of the second training centre, Manpower is responding to the growing demand for certified employees within logistics. In 2016, the first location was opened in Eindhoven, and this has not hurt the employment agency. Since April 2016, 1,400 candidates have been trained and placed.

Practice and theory

Manpower works together with training provider Athetys in the training centre. The training courses last from one to four days and consist of both a practical and a theoretical part that is offered and tested using e-learning. There is room for eight candidates per class. "During the training, the candidates are already introduced to the processes and (sometimes) goods of the client they will be working for," says Bas van Sprundel, Manager Manpower Talent Academy. "This allows us to respond to the wishes of our clients as much as possible, while also aiming for a fast onboarding."

Logistics hotspots

The employment agency expects the new location to reach candidates and clients in logistics hotspots such as Schiphol Airport and Utrecht-Nieuwegein-Vaianten. Van Sprundel: "With the Logistics Academy in Eindhoven, we already covered major logistics hotspots such as West Brabant, Tilburg-Waalwijk and Venlo-Venray and we are now adding other major hotspots such as Schiphol and Utrecht-Nieuwegein-Vianen."
