Logistics companies may take seasonal workers back into temporary employment as early as after three months. That has been agreed in the new collective agreement for seasonal work in logistics.
TLN, trade unions CNV, FNV and De Unie agreed on the new arrangement. The collective agreement takes effect from 1 October 2018 and runs for 15 months.
Usually, ex-employees are only allowed to return to work on temporary contracts after six months. However, an exception was added when the law was introduced, allowing sectors to agree different arrangements in their collective agreements.
In logistics, the new arrangement applies to the positions 'tipper driver', 'bottom-dump driver', 'walking floor driver' in road construction and agricultural transport. In ornamental plant transport, the new collective agreement applies to the job 'order picker'.
These are jobs that have a seasonal character 'due to climatic or natural conditions'. There is a condition: the jobs cannot be performed consecutively by the same employee for a period of more than nine months.
