Prologis has delivered a 28,000-square-metre distribution centre to logistics service provider Pantos Logistics. During the construction of the new building, extra attention was paid to the health and well-being of staff who will be working in the DC.

The distribution centre is located at Industriepark Vossenberg West II in Tilburg. Pantos Logistics, a Korean logistics service provider, rents the property from the property developer.

Staff welfare in distribution centres

The new location is part of a pilot programme with the International WELL Building Institute. The parties want to develop a new standard that takes into account the well-being of staff working in distribution centres.

Ventilation, natural light and green spaces

According to Prologis, the WELL Building Standard certificate goes beyond the well-known sustainable standards, such as a BREAAM certification. This includes a smart ventilation system and green spaces to freshen up the indoor climate. Natural light and acoustic improvement are also taken into account.

Standing out in a tight labour market

These measures can help a company like Pantos Logistics find staff. "The use of WELL features in our buildings can be a differentiating factor in attracting logistics staff," explains Arthur van Kooij, head of project management Prologis Northern Europe. "The WELL standard already exists for office buildings, but not yet for logistics real estate. WELL offers us a structural, scientific approach that goes beyond well-known sustainable standards such as BREEAM certification."
