Sligro is to take measures to address staff shortages in distribution centres. The company wants to be less dependent on 'traditional forms of transport and logistics'.

The wholesaler stated this when announcing its quarterly figures. With the disposal of the EMTÉ supermarkets, 200 employees at Sligro's head office will lose their jobs. In the distribution centres, however, the company is short of hands.

"Both within and outside our sector, the demand for staff in distribution centres and transport is increasing, which is increasingly causing scarcity and shortage of capacity," Sligro said. "The solutions we are deploying today to address these capacity shortages and continue to serve our customers appropriately are costly."

The still unknown measures Sligro is taking to increase capacity will have an impact on profits. How big that impact is will become clear when the annual figures are published.
